Activities
Good Samaritan is proud of the comprehensive activities program offered
to all of our residents. We offer organized activities (including games,
arts and crafts) at least twice a day. We celebrate birthdays with a
monthly resident birthday party and other occasions such as New Years
Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Our residents make use
of our 10 passenger bus for shopping trips and outings to the Washington
Parish Fair, Christmas in the Park, Global Wildlife Center, local parades
and movie theaters.
Also, several of our
residents enjoy a monthly lunch outing at one of the many restaurants in
Washington, St. Tammany or Tangipahoa Parishes or even Walthall County
Mississippi. This is a social event that our residents look forward to
each month and talk about for days afterward
Our campus includes
courtyards, flower gardens and a beautiful chapel which is open to all
denominations. We also have our very own pet rabbit, Petunia, who is a
resident favorite and spoiled rotten.
Transportation
In addition to the outings mentioned above, Good Samaritan Living Center
also provides transportation to and from local physician and dental
appointments in one of our two facility vehicles.
Social Services
A Social Services Designee (SSD) is on staff to assist residents and
family with all types of social needs ranging from getting any and all
governmental assistance for which a resident may qualify to making certain
residents have sufficient wardrobe and personal items.
Dietary
Our residents enjoy
three delicious and nutritious meals a day. Residents are encouraged to
eat in our spacious dining room, but may eat their meals in their rooms if
necessary. All menus and dietary plans are monitored by our Registered
Dietician and menus are rotated with the seasons of the year.
Care Management
Conferences Scheduled conferences provide the interdisciplinary team
with the opportunity to coordinate services and share information.
Residents, their family members and/or responsible party are invited to
attend.
